Putin ordered the launch of ships and planes between Sochi and Crimea
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the organization of air and sea connections between Sochi and Crimea during the tourist season in 2017.

“I am sure that people would definitely use it: those who come to Crimea would also go to see Sochi and the Olympic facilities, and those who vacation in Sochi would go to see the museums of Crimea. This is tourist transportation, not passenger transportation; we need to launch cruise ships,” Putin said.
Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said that even on high-speed boats, the passage from Sochi to Yalta takes 10 hours.
“In general, work on (this issue), report to me, and next year do both... both air and sea communications,” Putin instructed.
