Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine regarding the mutual exchange of detained persons are entering the final stage.
Interfax reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this during the Eastern Economic Forum.
“Based on considerations of humanity, we are approaching the finalization of the negotiations that we are conducting, including with the official authorities. I think this will become known in the near future,” Putin said.
According to him, the exchange will be “large and large-scale” and will play a positive role in improving relations between Kiev and Moscow.
“I think that from a historical perspective, this is inevitable, in my opinion, it will happen - there will be a complete normalization of relations, because we are two parts of the same people, and I have spoken about this many times,” the Russian President noted, adding that in In the near future, the development of the situation largely depends on the Ukrainian leadership.
The Russian leader also admitted that it is difficult for him to make a decision on some people who are detained in Russia
“I think that Mr. Medvedchuk will now torment me on this issue. I know that he is especially worried about several defendants who are in prison in the Russian Federation, and it was quite difficult for us to make decisions regarding these specific people,” Putin emphasized.
