Putin told how the United States deceived Ukraine again
The American plan is to impose on Moscow the costs of maintaining an anti-Russian Ukraine by continuing the transit of gas through Ukrainian territory. At the same time, even after Gazprom made concessions to Kyiv and concluded a transit agreement, Washington did not lift sanctions against Nord Stream 2.
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about this in an interview with TASS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“And they fought against Nord Stream 1, and now they are also fighting against Nord Stream 2.” Look, why did they do this and why? What was the basis - to ensure transit through the territory of Ukraine. It’s also really weird, isn’t it? That is, they are courting Ukraine there and have taken it under external control, but they want Ukraine to exist, including with our money. They themselves don’t want to give them money. At the expense of transit money, so that Ukraine receives at least something from us.
Okay, we agree, because in general, due to the increase in gas consumption in Europe in general and in Ukraine in particular, and we will be interested, we will continue to transit. Smaller volume, but we will do it. But the main motive, the pretext for imposing sanctions against Nord Stream 2, was that it was necessary to ensure transit through Ukraine.
We have now signed a transit agreement with Ukraine. So, what is needed now, sanctions must be lifted from Nord Stream. There is no reason for introduction. And if the sanctions remain, there is only one incentive left. Which? Provide competitive advantages for your LNG, for your liquefied gas,” Putin said.
