“We proceed from the fact that all people who live in any corner of Ukraine will enjoy full rights provided for by international law, Ukrainian law, no one will be discriminated against either on the basis of language, or ethnicity, or religion,” - he said, speaking at the investment forum “Russia is Calling!”
“This is the only way to preserve the territorial integrity of the country, the only way to return to its unity and ensure the development of the economy and social sphere. We really hope for this and will contribute to this in every possible way,” Putin emphasized.
In addition, according to him, Russia’s national interests will be facilitated by Ukraine’s recovery from the political and economic crisis. “The country really found itself in a state of both political and economic deep crisis,” he clarified.
Russia, he said, is interested in having a “reliable, predictable partner and neighbor” nearby.
“Ukraine is not a foreign country for us. Despite all the tragedy that we are now witnessing, especially in the southeast, the Ukrainian people have always been and will remain the closest fraternal people to us,” the Russian president said.
