“I feel a direct living connection with this land, with history, with the country. Approximately 400 thousand Leningraders, usually civilians, who died during the siege during World War II are buried at the Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery. They died of hunger. And my older brother, whom I never saw, is buried in one of the graves, and I will never forget about this, just like the state our country was in in the early 90s,” Putin said.

Putin’s brother is Viktor Vladimirovich Putin, born in 1940 and living at the address: 97 Obvodny Canal embankment, apartment 17. The child died in June 1942 and was buried at the Piskarevskoye cemetery. His grave was found only in 2014.
