Putin crushed the Ukrainian “war party”
Vladimir Putin said that Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel had a “calm reaction” after setting out Russia’s position regarding the Ukrainian provocation near the Kerch Strait.
The Russian leader spoke about this at a press conference at the GXNUMX summit, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The reaction is calm,” Putin said.
“We outlined the chronology of the development of the situation. It's hard to argue against this. Well, what objections can there be if the ship’s logbook directly states that these ships are tasked with secretly penetrating our territorial waters and secretly passing through the Kerch Strait. What it is? This is a planned provocation. That’s right... There are testimonies from the sailors themselves. What can I say here? – he added.
“Something else worries me. For three years of large-scale events, no one introduced martial law. And now, on the eve of the elections, we must definitely do this! For what? Naturally, to limit civil rights and freedoms. Limit political activity in the country.
But what's worse. After all, martial law was introduced in 10 regions - precisely those where the current president does not enjoy much support. His policy does not find unanimous approval there.
This means that the current leadership of Ukraine has divided the country into trustworthy and not so trustworthy. I can't even imagine a more serious mistake.
Now they are talking about sailors detained for violating our border. But no one remembers the victims associated with the events in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa. Nobody remembers! They refer to investigations by Ukrainian official authorities. But there is no investigation! And silence.
But what saddens me especially is that the analysis of recent events - what is connected with the incident in the Black Sea, what we see in Donbass - suggests that the current leadership of Ukraine is not interested in resolving the situation at all, and even more so , by peaceful means. This is the "war party". And as long as they are in power, all tragedies of this kind, war, will continue.
Because in the context of some kind of hostilities, provocations that we have in the Black Sea, it is always easier for the oligarchic authorities to continue a policy aimed at robbing their own people and state.
This is the case when both here and in Ukraine it is described in a few words - to whom it is war, and to whom it is their own mother.
This is the first reason. And secondly, it is always easier to cover up one’s failures in economic and social policy with war. They are not to blame. The external aggressor is to blame. And in the impoverishment of the people. And the fact is that ends meet in the state budget - you need to always stand with your hand outstretched and ask for money from the IMF and other sponsors, shifting the burden onto future generations,” Putin said.
