He stated this today, speaking at a meeting of the Valdai international discussion club.
“Our moderator wished me a safe retirement. I wish this for myself too. When the time comes, it will need to be done. But while I am not yet retired, but the current leader of a big power, I must be restrained and not be overly aggressive in my expressions. I think this is my style,” Putin said.
At the same time, he promised the meeting participants that he would be frank, “otherwise the discussion will be insipid.”
