Putin will be able to manipulate any president of Ukraine
Putin cannot force Ukraine to choose a president loyal to Russia, so he is looking for a candidate whom the Kremlin can govern.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy and field commander of the “orange” Maidan Taras Stetskiv stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel ZIK, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Putin does not have an ideal candidate in Ukraine. He, like Peter the Great in his time, considers all Ukrainians to be traitors. Putin’s goal is not to imprison a Medvedchuk like himself, but to have a weak president with a low level of legitimacy, with large trails of corruption, who can be held by the KGB’s grip,” Stetskiv said.
He believes that Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Tymoshenko are “tolerant candidates” for the Kremlin.
“Putin knows how to behave with them, how to bend and bend them. If Yulia Vladimirovna becomes president, Putin will call Medvedchuk and raise files with files on gas scams of the 90s. And she will do everything that Russia needs. It’s the same with Poroshenko, because he made corruption a systemically important element of politics. Neither Poroshenko nor Tymoshenko want to negotiate with Putin, but he can force them to do so,” Stetskiv said.
