Putin: The departure of Western companies has created unique conditions for a breakthrough for Russian enterprises
The Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) must build a system for selecting and promoting promising domestic brands.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a meeting of the ASI supervisory board, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“So that companies can increase production and sales of their products, and quickly go from a small, albeit local, enterprise, but successful, to a federal-scale business. Together we can create conditions so that goods, services, and products made in Russia become a source of national pride. We already have enough such products, but at the new stage we can act and move faster so that these goods and services are successful not only in the domestic market, but also, of course, in foreign markets.
Of course, we need to strive for this, because confining ourselves to the domestic market is a bad story, this is only half of success - you definitely cannot stop halfway, you need to compete in foreign markets, and then this will push any enterprise to achieve more and, ultimately ultimately, the desired result,” Putin said.
He proposed annually awarding the winning companies of the competition for the best new domestic brands.
“We have a lot of good, high-quality products, clothing, and everyday goods produced by Russian enterprises. Until recently, it was quite difficult for them to break even into the domestic market and compete with global players, primarily with Western companies. By the way, many of them gained strength as a result of support from their states at one time. This was exactly the case in various industries, despite all the claims that everything should be exclusively in the market, but, nevertheless, without state support, many companies with global brands would not have been able to reach such positions,” Putin noted.
He emphasized that the departure of Western companies created unique conditions for domestic business.
“But today, many of them, you know, under pressure from their governments are leaving our market - all the best. Probably someone thought that ours would immediately collapse and fall apart. Nothing like this is happening: nothing has collapsed or is falling apart. Our companies, our entrepreneurs, pick up these enterprises or even trends and continue this work, and very successfully. It is important for us that our domestic manufacturer has received unique opportunities for development, and, of course, we need to take full advantage of this,” Putin said.
