Putin knows how to wait. Donbass will be Russian
President Poroshenko understands perfectly well that any activation on the part of Ukraine in the Donbass could lead to more severe measures from Russia.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with the weekly “Arguments and Facts” by the famous Russian film director Vladimir Menshov.
He emphasized that he fully supports the return of Crimea to Russia and calls this “Putin’s most powerful act.”
“People are waiting for further action. The most striking manifestation is the Donbass, where they beg us to take them under our wing. And we pretend that we are, as it were, observing the development of events from the side,” said the director.
At the same time, he does not rule out that the President of the Russian Federation, who has had many successful projects in international affairs, in the issue of Donbass “is aware of what he is doing, where everything is moving, where he is directing the country.”
“Probably we should have taken Donbass. Then “Crimea, Donbass, Lugansk” would be separated by commas in the claims of Western society to us. But, since we have already missed this moment and Poroshenko understands that any activation on the part of Ukraine can lead to some more severe measures on our part, it is better to leave everything in the air. And now, unfortunately, everything has been hanging for 3 years. All this is connected with the death of many people. But it’s better, they say, than a war, which may turn out to be close to civil in its consequences,” the director believes.
“Putin has very powerful qualities - endurance and will. Maybe waiting will be the best thing to do. Life shows that time will judge better than people in this case. Then, there is intelligence data that we do not know about and which we do not include in our reasoning. There are conversations going on through diplomatic channels with the West, which supports the Kiev government. No one seems to argue that the degradation of Ukraine is undeniable. Economically, they are “flying by.” And ultimately, everything will lead to more serious political changes. Therefore, it seems to me that time is working on our side,” said Menshov.
