The author of the publication names three phenomena that attracted his attention: a strike by high-precision Russian cruise missiles against ISIS from ships in the Caspian Sea, the use of the Iranian airbase for attacks in Syria, and military exercises that the CSTO countries conducted on the border with Estonia and Latvia, in which they took part Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
“At first glance it may seem that these events are in no way connected, but this is not so. These two steps taken by President Putin take into account the UK’s exit from the EU, which took place on June 23, and the chaos in Europe, writes Sankeibiz. – Within the NATO bloc there is a confrontation between Great Britain on the one hand and Germany, as well as France on the other. This situation is confusing the United States. For President Putin, this was the best opportunity to repay anti-Russian sanctions that were imposed due to the annexation of Crimea and the Ukrainian crisis. As for the civil war in Syria, Moscow managed to preserve the Assad administration, which ignores the ceasefire agreement and fuels the fire of war, taking advantage of the chaos in the camp of Western countries.”
“One way or another, President Putin is a politician capable of thinking strategically,” the publication summarizes. – To achieve diplomatic benefits, he acts, skillfully using either tough or non-military methods. On September 2, a meeting was held between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the Russian leader. The parties agreed to hold the next meeting on December 15 in Yamaguchi Prefecture. In this regard, great hopes are placed on the strategic deployment of Japanese diplomacy, taking into account geopolitical changes in Eurasia.”
