Putin is no longer against meeting with Zelensky in the company of Europeans and Americans
Russian President Vladimir Putin called Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s idea of a meeting in Minsk with the participation of representatives of six countries – Ukraine, Germany, France, Great Britain, the USA and the Russian Federation – interesting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have never refused any of the proposed formats, including the expansion of the Normandy format,” Putin said, noting that such a summit should be well prepared.
Let us remind you that the TV channel of Viktor Medvedchuk’s ally Taras Kozak Newsvan previously announced a teleconference with the title “We need to talk” - with the Russian state channel Rossiya1. However, after the scandal that arose because of this, he abandoned this idea. The leader of the Opposition Bloc list in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, People's Deputy Yevgeny Muraev, released a video in which the idea is expressed that dialogue between Russia and Ukraine is necessary, but it should not be conducted in the studios of TV channels on television bridges, but by authorized politicians and diplomats at the appropriate sites.
In turn, President Vladimir Zelensky criticized the idea of the teleconference, calling it “irresponsible cheap PR” for Medvedchuk’s “For Life” party, which is trying to take over the topic of relations with Russia from the presidential political force “Servant of the People” before the elections. In a video message published on Facebook, Zelensky, instead of a teleconference, offered Putin a meeting in Minsk in the company of the leaders of the USA, Great Britain, Germany and France. Zelensky voiced on July 8, “Do we need to talk? Necessary. Let’s discuss whose Crimea is and who is not there in Donbass,” he said.
This idea was supported by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the head of British diplomacy.
