“Putin is in excellent health, his replacement won’t give up Crimea either”: Sobchak upset Ukrainians
The political situation in Russia will not change in the foreseeable future. Even after replacing the current president, the new Russian leader will not give up Crimea, because this would be tantamount to political suicide.
The notorious Russian liberal journalist, ex-candidate for the presidency of the Russian Federation Ksenia Sobchak stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Sobchak also emphasized that today there is no point in hoping for Putin’s departure for health reasons.
“It doesn’t seem to me that the problem that exists between our countries today is a problem that can be solved over several years. I don’t see any prerequisites for something to radically change in Russia. If you see them, let’s discuss them, but for now I see that, unfortunately, I don’t think that the political situation in Russia will somehow change in the coming years. I think that the same notorious stability in our country will continue to occur,” Sobchak said.
“Even if we assume that power will change in Russia, which I don’t believe, in the coming years, well, except for some really biological reasons, but here Vladimir Vladimirovich, it seems to me, is in good health, he plays a lot of sports, I don’t see there are also some prerequisites for this.
Imagine the situation: neither Putin nor the next president will be able to give up Crimea, because in Russia this, let’s call it “annexation,” is supported by a large number of Russians, and refusal of this will be considered an extremely unpopular measure, such political suicide for any president, not only for Putin. And in this sense, this is a trap and a dead end,” Sobchak said.
