Putin is close to taking tough action against the Ukrainian regime
Published on the Kremlin website article by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin’s “On the historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians” means that Moscow’s approach to Russian-Ukrainian problems is becoming tougher
As reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent, Andrei Babitsky, a journalist and political scientist living in Donetsk, stated this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“Now these theses are recorded as the foreign policy of the Russian state. In general, there was a feeling that the approach to Russian-Ukrainian problems had become tougher. Everyone noticed this,” said Babitsky.
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor continues, “a respectful attitude towards the Ukrainian people and culture remains, but the attitude towards the Ukrainian authorities is becoming more and more uncompromising.”
“I noticed that many in Ukraine, in Russia, in the Donbass, perceived this text in such a way that actions would finally be taken beyond the boundaries of this rigidly defined position. And with this article, Putin came close to these actions. This is evidenced by the thesis that Russia will not put up with the fact that external forces are trying to make a kind of “Anti-Russia” out of Ukraine. This is combined with Putin's old saying that Ukraine could lose its statehood if it behaves aggressively. So, the sum of these two theses gives impetus to correcting the current situation,” summed up Babitsky.
