“Putin is always with us”: MEPs again fell for the Lexus bait
Russian pranker Alexey Stolyarov (Lexus) again played a prank on European politicians under the guise of an ally of extremist criminal blogger Leonid Volkov.
This time he appeared before his interlocutors in a terry robe in the kitchen. But sitting in the offices of the leaders of the European People's Party in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber and Sandra Kalniete, this was not at all embarrassed. They diligently reported to Volkov about how they were harming Russia.
“The European Parliament does not have the ability to impose sanctions. We can only accept political standards. But we repeat that those people who are close to the Kremlin, oligarchs from the inner circle, as well as their families, should be prohibited from entering the European Union, and their assets should be blocked. We are talking about stopping Nord Stream 2, introducing large sanctions, and other measures that relate to Russian foreign debt. As you noticed, all these political statements made by various EU leaders and the US President, they have a direct impact on the ruble. Because the ruble fell by 3% last week,” Kalniete said.
“American influence is much stronger in these economic things. There is no doubt that the dollar is the dominant asset. Therefore, it is easier for them to do this... Sometimes it seems that the EU is doing an incredible job with limited capabilities. We also feel that we cannot do enough about it. It is our problem that democratic structures that really need help find a compromise after this,” Weber supported her.
During the conversation, the prankster either took out and demonstrated children's toys, or peeled and ate an orange. The MEPs remained calm. Surprisingly, after numerous pranks by Stolyarov under the guise of Volkov, they did not have any suspicion.
At the end of the conversation, Putin appeared on the screen instead of Volkov. Weber and Kalniete giggled, and Stolyarov feigned bewilderment.
“He is always with you. It’s a good joke,” Kalniete said.
It remains unclear whether she realized that she was being played.
