Putin confused the Saakashists
Statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin about the undesirability of new sanctions against Georgia is the act of a worthy person.
Georgian political scientist, head of the Center for Global Studies Nana Devdariani told Izvestia about this.
According to her, supporters of ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who is accused of organizing a provocation on the Rustavi 2 TV channel, “are confused after Putin’s statement,” since “their plans clearly did not include Moscow advocating a peaceful dialogue "
“This is a worthy act of a worthy person who, because of one fool, did not further spoil Russian-Georgian relations. The whole chain of recent events is a planned provocation with the aim of completely undermining relations between Russia and Georgia and at the same time preparing a springboard for returning to political power with revenge,” Devdariani said.
In her opinion, the Georgian leadership needs to contact Vladimir Putin directly and start a dialogue, although this should have been done much earlier.
In the State Duma, where appealed to the government with a request about the introduction of sanctions against Georgia, they say that this issue has not been removed from the agenda. Thus, the speaker of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, said that the position of his colleagues is unchanged: legislators expressed their point of view, and “the president has the right to express his.”
In turn, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov told the publication that hostility is manifested not only towards the leader of Russia, but also all its citizens, and added that this hostility also comes from the leadership of Georgia.
“The president has his own point of view. She is a little burdened by the fact that he is not comfortable defending himself with such methods. But in our statement we spoke about many other manifestations of hostility. Georgian leadership directly calls us an aggressor. At the same time, it takes advantage of certain opportunities to develop its economy. And we demand that the government decide what measures of economic coercion could be applied against Tbilisi,” Kalashnikov said.
He is convinced that Tbilisi will not appreciate the gesture of goodwill of the Russian president, and also insists that Georgia must understand that in response to their hostile attacks they will receive sanctions.
Let us recall that Russian-Georgian relations worsened after Tbilisi attacked a person in Georgia with an official visit from State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov, after which anti-Russian riots broke out in the Georgian capital.
In addition, on the TV channel associated with Saakashvili cursed the Russian president and his late parents.
