Following the LDPR, Putin removes Zaporozhye and Kherson from the brackets of negotiations with Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a simplified citizenship procedure for residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
The text of the document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Additions are being made to the decree of the head of state of April 2019, in which persons permanently residing in the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics were allowed to apply for Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.
Let us remind you that a significant part of the territory of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions is under the control of the Russian Federation. In these regions there are military-civil administrations formed from citizens who have defected to Russia.
In turn, Moscow political scientist Evgeny Minchenko believes that after the signing of the decree, the chances for peace with Ukraine are less and less.
“Apparently, at the moment, the regions that provide a land corridor to Crimea are excluded from the scope of negotiations with Ukraine. What happens next depends on the course of military operations. The chances of a full-fledged peace treaty are diminishing. The most likely scenario is the “38th parallel”, a truce and freezing of the conflict with inevitable unfreezing after some time,” the expert believes.
Earlier, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky said that about 70% of residents of the Kherson, Zaporozhye, and part of the Nikolaev regions want to receive Russian passports.
