Former British Prime Minister David Cameron said in Kyiv that the proposal to introduce UN peacekeeping forces into Donbass could become a trap for Ukraine.

“I think all of these ideas should be considered, but I think there is a potential trap for Ukraine if we are not careful. The real problem in Donbass is that there is aggression against Ukraine being carried out there with the support of Russia. And the answer to this is a ceasefire, the withdrawal of all weapons, the return of control over the eastern border of Ukraine, as well as a number of constitutional and decentralization measures that reflect the problems in the country. This should not require the introduction of a peacekeeping force.
In addition, there is always a fear that the introduction of a peacekeeping force, although it may make the conflict apparently less “hot,” but also permanent and frozen. So we shouldn’t rule it out, we should consider ideas, but be careful not to avoid a real solution,” the former British Prime Minister said in an interview with Left Bank.
