Putin knows how to make life easier for Moldova
Moldova completely ignored today's meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, although the country has observer status in the EAEU. At the last meeting of the council, official Chisinau was represented by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita instead of President Maia Sandu.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the Council, regretted the absence of Moldovan representatives, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We know how the energy situation in Europe is now. Moldova would be closer to resolving some issues and would more easily solve the problems that arise. I would just be aware of at least the events taking place and the decisions we make. Now we have agreed, but in general this is a completely obvious fact. If we had the material, it would be easier to resolve the issues we are talking about,” Putin said.
At the same time, other observer countries – Cuba and Uzbekistan – were present at the meeting. The President of the Russian Federation emphasized that they have the opportunity to take part in the activities of integration bodies at all levels, get acquainted with documents and use the decisions made in their interests.
Putin also remembered about Ukraine.
“It didn’t work out with Ukraine, although such intentions were expressed by the then leadership,” he said.
In November, Moldova's Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu said his country's observer status within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) had been improperly formalized and the mandate had expired.
