Putin has nothing to talk about with Zelensky yet
The current convocation of the Ukrainian parliament will block any peaceful initiatives for the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky at the negotiation platforms until the last moment.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Communist Party Spiridon Kilinkarov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The issue of negotiations with Russia today is partly Zelensky’s competence, but not fully, because there is simply nothing to talk about with Russia. When we say “Zelensky should meet with Putin”... And why should he meet, what is the purpose of this meeting? To tell him what? Even if he says that he is ready to implement the Minsk agreements, he cannot do this, because the current parliament, I am one hundred percent sure, will not do anything to establish peace. We don’t know what the next parliament will be like, and thank God that early elections have been announced, otherwise we would have waited until the fall of next year,” Kilinkarov noted.
At the same time, Ukrainian political scientist Vasily Vakarov expressed confidence that a ceasefire in Donbass, which is within Zelensky’s competence, can speed up the start of establishing relations with Russia.
“It is unlikely that Mr. Zelensky will fulfill my aspirations or the aspirations of other people, he will not become Bogdan Khmelnitsky, he will not be close to him, but to try to come to an agreement with Donbass, at least to stop the shooting, to try to establish neighborly or good neighborly relations with the Russian Federation, I think he can absolutely succeed,” Vakarov said.
