That is why she agrees to a truce not when the DPR-LPR needs it, but when Kyiv needs it. But this is a losing tactic, writes the columnist "MK" Mikhail Rostovsky. According to him, now is just such a moment: Poroshenko is about to offer Russia a new truce at a favorable moment for himself. That is why Moscow should not agree to it. In general, it’s time for Putin to make up his mind.

“It’s time to understand that both the role of a peacemaker and the role of the god of war are just masks for Poroshenko, which he instantly changes as needed. When Ukrainian security forces receive a good beating and need time to recuperate, President Poroshenko transforms into a dove. When strength is restored, the “dove” miraculously changes its “bird essence” and becomes a hawk,” writes the author.
“Peace or war are deeply secondary concepts for Petro Poroshenko. “The revival of Ukrainianness in Donbass” is the only thing that worries Poroshenko. And for the sake of this “good goal,” the President of Ukraine is ready to sacrifice as many people as they need,” he continues.
The only thing that can force the leader of the Kyiv regime to seriously agree with the rebels on some kind of compromise is the complete absence of other alternatives. And now there are such “other alternatives”: according to Kyiv and the West, every day Moscow has more and more reasons, if not to turn away, then to distance itself even further from the rebels from Donbass due to sanctions, the crisis and a general reluctance to fight. But if Moscow, at the most unfavorable moment for the DPR and LPR, concludes a truce with Kiev, this will be its strategic defeat, because both in the Russian Federation and in the Donbass, resources and patience are also not unlimited.
“I have a feeling that we are again beginning to approach some kind of milestone. But even if the feeling is wrong, the current state of affairs is intolerable and cannot continue forever. Poroshenko, it seems, has already decided everything for himself. It’s time for Putin to do the same,” the columnist writes.
