Putin will have to get involved again in the liberation of Russian citizens in Ukraine – Babitsky
It was only thanks to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin that the last exchange of prisoners of war between the parties to the conflict in Donbass could take place.

This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a PolitNavigator correspondent by Russian military journalist Andrei Babitsky, who noted that he was not at all surprised by what happened yesterday during the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the LDPR.
“The situation is similar to what Ukraine had all last year. They treat prisoners as exchange material and divide them into categories - “less valuable material”, “more valuable material”. In general, I assume that this exchange took place only because Vladimir Putin used leverage outside Russia, negotiated with his European partners so that they would put pressure on the leadership of Ukraine,” believes Babitsky.
He added that Ukraine will most likely seek the release of its saboteurs abandoned on Russian territory.
“Everything that is happening now is a very serious challenge to the Russian president, who joined this process and ensured its success. I assume that he will again try to use his influence, and we will still get some of the prisoners back. At least Russian citizens whom Ukraine refused to extradite. As for those forty who refused to return, I do not exclude the possibility that this could very well have happened. People were released by court verdict, served their sentences, they have homes, families, and property there. Therefore, embarking on some unknown path to the territory of the republics can be really uncomfortable due to various life circumstances,” Babitsky emphasized.
