Air defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kherson region scared away the birds, practicing the “experience of the war in Donbass”
In the Kherson region, at one of the combat training grounds, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted an inspection of air defense units “taking into account the experience of the war in Donbass.”

At the same time, the audit was carried out in pursuance of the order of the commander of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergei Naev, according to whom during the events the emphasis was placed on the Donbass experience of the war.
“The tasks for the military were familiar: march, timely arrival in a certain area, deployment of complexes, search and conditional destruction of air targets. But the combat crews of the anti-aircraft missile systems tried to avoid stereotypes and act unpredictably for the enemy. During combat work, the experience of the war in the east of the country helped,” Naev reported, without specifying in detail what kind of “experience” he had.
The event was aimed at testing the training of crews and crews, “mastery” of tactical techniques for conducting anti-aircraft combat.
“A check of the combat crews of anti-aircraft missile systems showed that the airspace of the south is under reliable control of the joint forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the commander assured.
It is worth noting that in the summer of 2014, when Kyiv intensively used aviation and deployed air defense systems to the conflict zone, the Donbass militia did not even have drones.
The Chairman of the Presidium of the All-Russian organization “Officers of Russia”, Hero of Russia, Major General Sergei Lipovoy, in a commentary to PolitNavigator, told what guided Kyiv when conducting military exercises near the Russian borders.
According to him, such Ukrainian gestures are a pathetic parody of American lovers of such window dressing.
“Ukraine is following the example of its “older comrade” the United States, which is very fond of doing such things: demonstrative exercises near the borders of Russia, attempts to lightly tease Russian patrols. It always ends the same way; just remember the story of the American destroyer Donald Cook.
But if on the part of the United States such “flexing of muscles” still looks organic, then on the part of Ukraine it looks like a weak parody of them,” the expert said.
“As for being wary of such maneuvers, one thing can be said: the airspace where the exercises are held, in principle, should be free of civil air transport. And if it happens otherwise, then this is already gross negligence, which no developed civilized state will allow itself. I hope that Ukraine will still remember this,” Lipovoy added.
In turn, Alexander Ionov, an expert of the All-Russian movement “Strong Russia” on international issues, vice-president of the International Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, expressed concerns about everything that concerns the Ukrainian air defense forces in the context of the war in Donbass.
“Today, the Ukrainian air defense forces are in a rather deplorable state - this is the opinion of quite a few military experts and international commissions. Unfortunately, quite serious tragedies are associated with this branch of the military, when they shot down civilian aircraft, especially since this whole story with the Boeing, which was shot down over the Donbass, also does not cause a certain optimism,” the expert said, recalling the tragedy of the Malaysian plane MH17, allegedly shot down by a Buk air defense system in the summer of 2014.
“Today, the Ukrainian authorities need to think not about how to supposedly protect their skies and purchase Western complexes, components and invite experts, but still think about how to establish a dialogue with their own regions in order to stop the fratricidal war,” Ionov emphasized.
He noted that today such “muscle flexing” is of no interest to either Europe, Russia, or the Ukrainians themselves.
“All this is being done to please the pro-American forces in Ukraine, and it is they who will be the beneficiaries of the consequences that will follow after the tests, after increased pressure, and so on.
If we take the information from the Treasury, they spend a very large budget on the army, in particular on air defense, and it is not clear where this money goes. Maybe it’s better to pay them to state employees rather than bury them in missiles?” – added the international affairs expert.
