Drunk Ukrainian signalmen burned expensive American equipment
Drunk Ukrainian soldiers started a fire at a communications warehouse in the Donbass, destroying a large amount of equipment, including an expensive American radio station and a counter-battery station.
The official representative of the operational command of the DPR, Daniil Bezsonov, announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, in the 36th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on August 21, signalmen of the 501st battalion, while intoxicated, started a fire at the unit’s location.
“The fire in the barracks was extinguished, but the fire spread to the nearby communications warehouse, which was completely burned down. In a report to the JFO headquarters, the Marines announced that during the fire, about 20 km of field cable of various capacities, 6 TA-57 telephone sets, 4 R-105 radio stations and a P-193 field switch were destroyed,” said Daniil Bezsonov.
According to him, according to the report of the battalion communications chief, this warehouse also contained an AN/TPQ-48 counter-battery station, left there for temporary storage, and a Harris FALCON III radio station, previously delivered from the United States to Ukraine, but which was out of order and prepared for sending for repairs.
“After the fire, no remains of them could be found. Currently, the battalion command is not making public the fact of the loss and is looking for expensive American equipment on its own,” added the representative of the defense department.
Note that in June it was reported that a similar American counter-battery counter station had disappeared in another brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Also, PolitNavigator previously reported that as a result of a fire that broke out in the building of the forward control post of one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces brigades stationed in the Donbass, there was American-made artillery reconnaissance station radar destroyed.
