Alcoholism is rampant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and soldiers suffering from this disease try to remain in contract service.

Deputy Head of the Military Medical Academy for Clinical Work, Colonel of the Medical Service Vladimir Steblyuk stated this in an interview with Glavred.
“This will sound seditious, but the human “material” that goes to the front, the fifth or sixth wave of mobilization, demonstrates extremely high alcoholism,” admits the doctor. “And besides, they start to suffer from alcoholism not in the ATO zone; ready-made “avatars” come there, for whom this is a way of life.”
“The most unpleasant thing is that they then try to leave for a contract,” Steblyuk laments. - Why not, - a normal salary, trench warfare, you can sit out in a semi-sober state somewhere in a dugout at a GP, or even better somewhere at the place of permanent deployment, you can drink - they fight this, they try and go into the pits plant. But it all depends on the commander - if the personnel are busy with something specific, then no one drinks. If such an incomprehensible situation occurs, then drunkenness begins.”
