The fifth anniversary of the Maidan massacre was celebrated with “rays of dignity”
On the fifth anniversary of the death of Euromaidan participants in the center of Kyiv on Instytutska Street, the installation “Rays of Dignity” was tripled.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from the scene.
About two hundred people gathered for the rally, including relatives of the murdered, representatives of the Institute of National Remembrance and several public organizations.
After the performances, spotlights were turned on and aimed at the sky and those present sang the Ukrainian anthem.
This is not the first time such an event has been held at this location, although it did not take place last year. Activists said the resumption of this tradition was a good sign. At the same time, according to them, the disappearance of the memorial in honor of the victims, that is, the memorial cross and stands with photographs of the victims, was a bad sign.
However, one of the speakers assured those gathered that the cross would be returned, about which agreements had already been reached. Another not very pleasant news for Euromaidan participants is that the construction of the “Revolution of Dignity” museum was never started, although its opening was planned for today.
There is still a pit on the site of the future museum. But traffic along Institutskaya Street was blocked
“It’s good because this place is holy,” said one of the rally participants.
The speakers also noted that in five years, 18 family members of the so-called “heavenly hundred” have already died.
