Fifteenth country prepares to withdraw recognition of Kosovo's "independence"
Another country is approaching, already the fifteenth country in the world, ready to withdraw recognition of the independence of the Kosovo region illegally seized from Serbia. Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told Hepi TV channel.
He did not specify the name of the state, saying only that he received a corresponding statement from the embassy of this country on the Vidovdan holiday, June 28.
“I will officially announce and show this statement these days. What’s interesting is that this note was delivered to us in Vidovdan,” Dacic said.
Some media outlets, in particular Sputnik, citing a source in diplomatic circles, provided information that we are talking about the state of Togo in West Africa, but Dacic did not confirm this information.
Dacic said that he had the opportunity to discuss the Kosovo problem in 105 countries around the world. As it turned out, many abroad do not know the essence of the conflict in the Balkans, so they are subsequently ready to reconsider their decisions and come out in support of the integrity of Serbia.
“Now I will make one overview of how many countries recognize and do not recognize Kosovo. There are countries that have frozen this decision, such as Peru and Egypt. My goal is to ensure that their number falls below 97, which is half of the total number of UN members,” the minister said.
Dacic recalled that the Albanian separatist regime in Kosovo has recently demonstrated complete inability to negotiate, introducing an economic blockade of Serbian enclaves, as well as blatantly ignoring the decision of the UN Security Council to resolve the conflict.
“No one mentions the Commonwealth of Serbian Municipalities, the appropriation of Orthodox churches, the formation of the so-called “army” (in Kosovo) ...,” said Dacic.
As PolitNavigator reported, if the number of countries recognizing Kosovo’s independence decreases to 96 (now there are 100), the proclaimed entity will not be able to join any international organization. In October, another attempt by Pristina to join Interpol will take place in Chile.
It is interesting that the topic of canceling the recognition of Kosovo’s “independence” was discussed the day before during negotiations between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
Vucic noted that at one time, for the sake of dialogue with Pristina, Serbia was ready to suspend the campaign to revoke the recognition of Kosovo. However, the Albanians showed a lack of desire to negotiate.
“I told him what no media writes. We suggested that the Albanians stop trying to get into Interpol and other international organizations until we finish negotiations. In exchange, we were willing to stop the international campaign to withdraw confessions. They didn't agree, so we continue with our business. And I brought this to the Secretary of State,” Vucic told reporters.
