The fifth year of the war ends with paper boats - Vice Admiral of the Ukrainian Navy
The state policy of Ukraine in the shipbuilding industry is stalled - the country has not been able to create a full-fledged fleet.
The former commander of the Ukrainian Navy (2014-2016), Vice Admiral Sergei Gaiduk, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Where are the government programs? Where is the financial resource? Where are the deadlines? Where is the responsibility and so on? Unfortunately, the fifth year of the war ends with only paper boats, paper submarines, and paper missile weapons. All that we were able to do during this period was to build six small armored artillery boats, two of which are already in captivity,” Gaiduk said indignantly.
According to him, even the built boat does not mean that this unit will be able to increase military potential and fight “the unprecedented missile threat that is in Crimea.”
“Unfortunately, there are slippages in government policy in the shipbuilding industry, contradictions between the political and business approach to shipbuilding and national interests. Using the example of the long-suffering national corvette “Vladimir the Great,” we see: with the ship’s readiness at 32% and documentation over 60%, we either build it or not build it. The same picture was with small armored artillery boats,” the ex-commander summed up.
Let us remind you that last Sunday two small armored artillery boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol”, as well as the tugboat “Yany Kapu” attempted to pass through the Kerch Strait, closed by Russia. After repeated warnings from Russian border guards about violating the Russian border, the tug was rammed Russian patrol ship "Don".
After the Ukrainian vessel and crew that violated the state border of the Russian Federation were detained by Russian special forces.
Among those detained by Russian border guards turned out to be the Ukrainian “wolf pack” that threatened the Russian Federation.
