The work of the Ukrainian People's Tribunal will be brought to its logical conclusion
The Ukrainian People's Tribunal, whose work began in Donetsk, will last for quite a long time, due to the need to collect evidence.
This opinion was expressed by political commentator Armen Gasparyan in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“In my opinion, the very name of the tribunal is fundamentally important. This is exactly the Ukrainian folk one. Because when they now begin to draw parallels with Nuremberg, and both there and there are talking about crimes against humanity, they forget that the population of Germany was then upset that this was a tribunal of the Allies, and not a tribunal of the Germans themselves, who became one of the main victims Nazism In this case, the name is absolutely accurate, which perfectly emphasizes the essence of the phenomenon,” the expert said.
He emphasized that crimes had been committed against the population of Donbass, including against Ukraine itself, but made a reservation that a solution should not be expected in the short term.
“The fact is that too many war crimes have been committed in Donbass over the years. And it is necessary to understand each of them in detail so that the evidence base does not become lame. Because there are currently eight people under trial - this is the top leadership of Ukraine. There is no need to rush to ensure that there is no blurring and that it absolutely complies with established norms of international law. The main thing is that this work has begun, and that it will definitely be brought to its logical conclusion,” Gasparyan is convinced.
As PolitNavigator reported, the creation of the tribunal was previously announced by the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko in response to Ukraine’s adoption of the law “On the reintegration of Donbass”, which, contrary to the Minsk agreements, rejects the possibility of dialogue between Kyiv and the LDPR.
