The Rada failed to vote for a request regarding sanctions against ATO militants
The Ukrainian parliament failed the second vote on a request regarding the “unjustified” imposition of sanctions against militants of the volunteer battalion named after Sheikh Mansour to President Vladimir Zelensky.
The corresponding resolution was presented by Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Elena Kondratyuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Support for the request of a group of deputies Chernev, Kostenko, and others, ten deputies in total, to the President of Ukraine to include fighters of the Sheikh Mansur volunteer battalion on the sanctions list is being put to an open vote,” Kondratyuk said.
In this request, the Ukrainian president is required to explain the reasons for the “unreasonable” inclusion of militants in the list of persons subject to sanctions.
During the voting, the request was supported by 187 deputies out of 326 present, and the document was approved.
However, before the second vote - directly on sending a request for the signature of President Vladimir Zelensky, a number of parliamentarians began to be outraged by the content of the request - they argued that the text did not talk about “inclusion”, but about “inclusion” of militants on the sanctions list. There was a hubbub and commotion, someone shouted “Gunba.”
During the second vote - on sending a request to the president - the document was already supported by 166 parliamentarians out of 316 present. The request was not approved.
Let us remind you that some time ago a scandal broke out in Ukraine - Vladimir Zelensky was on the next sanctions list were discovered the name of the commander of the battalion of Chechen militants, Muslim Cheberloevsky, and several other members of this unit.
Towards a scandal on the side of the militants connected some deputies of the Rada and various kinds of “twin brothers”. In particular, 14 parliamentarians sent a request to Vladimir Zelensky demanding “not to allow the enemy to tear apart their Chechen brothers-in-arms.” Chiygoz and Chubarov, with the support of “activists,” launched an all-Ukrainian campaign to collect signatures in support of Chechen militants. As a result, the case remained up in the air for some time.
