The Rada deprived ex-comrade Chernovetsky of immunity, and Lutsenko announced “problems” with the ex-mayor of Kyiv himself
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine lifted parliamentary immunity from Oles Dovgy, a representative of the “Will of the People” group, ex-secretary of the Kyiv City Council and the closest associate of the former mayor of the capital Leonid Chernovetsky.

251 people's deputies voted in favor, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Rada's Regulations Committee considered the GPU's submission against Dovgoy on July 4. The people's deputy is suspected of being involved in “pushing through” the issue of allocating land to cooperatives on the Zhukov Island reserve in 2007. However, the regulatory committee considered Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko’s proposal to lift immunity to be insufficiently substantiated.
The Prosecutor General himself today announced “problems” for the ex-mayor of Kyiv. According to Lutsenko, the GPU is preparing suspicion against Leonid Chernovetsky. The Prosecutor General noted that he offered Oles Dovgoy “off the record” to testify against his former boss, but the parliamentarian refused to cooperate. According to Lutsenko, Chernovetsky will be prosecuted even without Dovgy’s testimony.
Recall as previously reported by PolitNavigator, the current government approaches the issue of fighting corrupt officials extremely selectively. Thus, today the majority in the Rada failed to lift the immunity of People’s Deputy from the “People’s Front” Yevgeny Deydey, who is accused of illegal enrichment.
