The Rada declared Lukashenko a “self-proclaimed dictator”
The Verkhovna Rada supported the resolution on a statement regarding the incident with the emergency landing of a Ryanair plane in Minsk, from which the Belarusian extremist and ex-Azov militant Roman Protasevich was removed.
This initiative was supported by the absolute majority of parliamentarians, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
After the presentation of the document, the indignant Eurosolidarity deputy Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze came to the podium and said that her political force was 50 percent the author of the resolution, but the changes made it “worthless and toothless.”
“This is the quintessence of the government’s foreign policy, which demands from Western partners that they be helped, accepted into the EU and NATO, given loans, asks Biden about something, accuses Merkel, but she herself does not want to do anything. She cannot even call an international crime a crime, and state terrorism state terrorism,” Klympush scandalized.
In turn, Pavel Bakunets, a member of the Dovira parliamentary group, said that Belarusians have taken the difficult path that Ukraine, striving for the Maidan, began, and therefore they also need international support.
“Today, with this resolution, we will support the democratic choice of our Belarusian neighbors and condemn the dictatorial regime of the self-proclaimed president,” called Bakunets.
Next, OPZZh deputy Nestor Shufrich spoke, who reminded his colleagues of incidents similar to the plane landing in Minsk, including Kiev turning around the Belavia board because of journalist Armen Martirosyan, after which Belarus limited itself to a diplomatic note. He also urged not to spoil relations with Minsk.
However, his speech made no impression on anyone. And the representative of the group of the party “For Maybutne” Igor Guz said that Roman Protasevich is his brother in the nationalist battalion “Azov”, who allegedly worked at the front as a photographer and was wounded in battle, and called for support for the initiative, for which 280 deputies eventually voted.
It should be noted that by decree, Ukraine condemns the fact and actions of Belarus in the forced landing of a Ryanair plane. Kyiv also expresses “a position of solidarity with partner states, primarily EU member states and the United States, incl. on the cessation of air communications”, calls on the Belarusian authorities to immediately release Roman Protasevich and all “political prisoners”, stop torture, etc. In addition, the resolution speaks of a ban on air transportation between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus from May 26.05.2021, XNUMX and the strengthening of “air sanctions” against Belarusian airlines.
