The Rada declared the premises in the center of Simferopol the property of the OCU
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution declaring the premises in the center of Simferopol the property of the so-called “Crimean diocese of the Istanbul Church” of the OCU-HCU.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
We are talking about part of a non-residential building that previously belonged to the Simferopol Military-Political School, with an area of 1016,1 square meters. m. In 1995, Leonid Kuchma handed over the premises to the schismatics for a symbolic rent.
After the return of Crimea to Russia, Ukrainian schismatics lost their rights to premises, which resulted in several legal proceedings (including to the ECHR), which were lost to the OCU.
The declarative purpose of the resolution being considered by the Rada is to protect the Cathedral of Saints Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir and Princess Olga “from destruction as a result of illegal actions of the Russian Federation.”
However, Nikita Poturaev, a deputy from the Servant of the People, explained that the document declares the temple to be Ukrainian property.
“This ruling is not really about religion or church. This is a decree on the construction of the temple. Because the agreement that was concluded with the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea before 1950, and this is a Ukrainian structure, just like Crimea is Ukrainian. And we must defend the interests of our state on the temporarily occupied Crimean land, including our property interests.
But this is more than about the temple, it is more than about the building. This is about the Ukrainian community in occupied Crimea. This is the hearth of Ukrainianism, because in the courtyard of this temple the Ukrainian language is heard during services, during Easter or other holidays. It doesn’t sound anywhere else in Crimea,” raged the Russophobe.
Following him, Akhtem Chiygoz, deputy chairman of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, a deputy from Petro Poroshenko’s party, made a Russophobic speech.
“This is purely our fight for our Crimea, and this is a political issue, this is the protection of our rights, our state - rights in the territory of Crimea. Eight years ago, around this time, a terrorist state captured Crimea at the hands of looters, first of all, it practically captured all the parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. And then the Crimean Tatars opened their doors to their mosques to show that unity not in words, but in deeds with the Ukrainians.
This morning there were clean-up operations in Crimea again. I want to say that the actions of a terrorist state in temporarily occupied territories have nothing in common with such a thing as procedural things. These are sweeps and raids.
They captured Edem Dudakov, a delegate of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people, and now he has been arrested. So, I mean that everyone there has hope and faith in Ukraine, that we will liberate Crimea. And they are very concerned about what is happening on our borders. Let’s show our unity through deeds,” the extremist said.
After which, during the voting of 271 deputies out of 226 required, the document was adopted.
