Rada refused to recognize Lukashenko as president of Belarus
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has recognized the presidential elections in Belarus as illegitimate.
This is stated in a statement adopted today in the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The statement also states that it is inadmissible to involve the Russian army to resolve the Belarusian crisis.
“The events that we observed in the Republic of Belarus give reason to believe that the officially announced results of the presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus do not reflect the real expression of the will of Belarusian citizens.
The statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine contains an assessment of the current situation in Belarus, condemns the methods used by the official authorities of the Republic of Belarus, expresses the inadmissibility of attracting the forces of the Russian Federation and the CSTO to normalize the situation, and also calls for resolving the crisis democratically with the involvement of independent international mediators,” – said the head of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, Alexander Merezhko.
In the session hall of the Ukrainian parliament, some deputies wrapped themselves in the flags of the Belarusian opposition, which were used by Nazi collaborators.
