The Rada canceled the legalization of “Euro plaques”
The Verkhovna Rada repealed the bill, legalizing the import of cars from Europe to Ukraine and imposing a certain excise tax on them, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
During the discussion, MP from Batkivshchyna Ivan Krulko said that the import of cars with foreign registration, which are now called “Euro plaques”, to Ukraine is a rather complex problem.
“This problem arose due to the fact that for many years citizens have been complaining that there cannot be a situation in the country where the cost of customs clearance of a car is more than sometimes the cost of the car itself bought abroad. This situation is completely unfair. It is precisely because for years the situation with putting things in order in this matter and creating normal conditions for a person who wants to buy a car has not been resolved. Therefore, people found other options to drive safer cars in Ukraine.
At the same time, a situation arose when hundreds of thousands of cars with foreign registration appeared on Ukrainian roads. Do Ukrainian drivers like this? No. Because when they get into an accident, a car with foreign registration does not bear any responsibility. The task of parliament is to ensure that they bear the full range of responsibilities,” he said.
He then called on drivers who are now blocking roads everywhere in Ukraine to do it more wisely.
“You are blocking the wrong places, and the wrong people. Block Roshen if you want to resolve this issue, but don’t block the roads that citizens should travel on to do their business,” Krulko concluded.
After the discussion was completed, the deputies moved on to make a decision.
“I am putting to a vote the draft resolution “On the cancellation of the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of November 8, 2018 on the adoption in the second reading and in general of the draft law on amendments to the customs code and some legislative acts of Ukraine on the import of vehicles into the customs territory of Ukraine,” Parubiy announced , after which the Rada voted to repeal this resolution.
“Now I’m installing project 8488P1. Those who support, please vote,” with these words the head of the Verkhovna Rada put the proposal to repeal the bill to a vote.
“Thus, colleagues, we rejected the resolutions, which makes it possible to urgently send them to the president for signature,” Parubiy said.
