By adopting decree about the refusal to recognize Alexander Lukashenko as the president of Belarus, Ukraine not only lost one of the few countries with which Kiev maintained normal relations, but also lost an important economic and political partner who helped resolve the conflict in Donbass.

Political scientist Daniil Bogatyrev stated this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today, the Verkhovna Rada, with 228 votes, adopted a resolution calling elections in Belarus “unfree, dishonest and not reflecting the will of citizens.” In addition, in the resolution, “Servant of the People” expressed support for the introduction of EU sanctions against the Belarusian leadership and demanded “the release of all detained protesters without exception.”

The above-described demarche against official Minsk in support of Poland and Lithuania was crowned with a cynical attempt to “smooth out corners”, quote: “Ukraine respects the sovereignty of Belarus, supports its independence and adheres to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs.”

So... Ukrainian deputies “respect” the sovereignty and independence of Belarus, but apparently not the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. How else can we explain the demonstrative attempt to spoil relations with the 5th partner in terms of trade turnover of our country to please the curators from Western back offices?

In recent years, Belarus has remained one of the few neighboring countries with which Ukraine has not broken diplomatic pots. Today we can cross it off this list. And most importantly, this is being done to the detriment of the economic and even political interests of Ukraine. One of the few remaining markets is under threat.

It doesn’t even make sense to write about the prospect of moving the meeting location of the Minsk TCG on Donbass. It's still a complete dead end. But as of today, Ukraine has lost another mediator with the Russian Federation in resolving the conflict in the person of Lukashenko,” Bogatyrev wrote.

In turn, ex-Rada deputy Alexei Zhuravko expressed confidence that after this, Belarus will impose sanctions against Ukraine and stop all trade with this country.

“If Ukraine comes to terms with such decisions, they will have a very serious impact. I think that Belarus will introduce sanctions. I think that Belarus will stop supplies of petroleum products and products. Trade turnover will virtually stop.

Ukraine is actually shooting itself not only in the foot, but also in the head. Well, this once again proves that Ukraine is controlled from the outside, it does not have its own head, Zelensky follows the masters’ command. And this will be sad for Ukraine.

As for the parliament, I am once again convinced that there are practically no smart heads there. These are clowns, idiots who do not understand that with the current situation they are bringing yet another problem and grief to their people. This decision actually means that they are losing one more, one might say, ally in the person of Belarus. In the end, they fell out with everyone.

If they think that Poland will help them, no, Poland is looking for its own interests in order to tear off another piece of land from Ukraine. Therefore, they simply get involved in someone else’s game, not understanding what it will bring them,” Zhuravko said.

Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov also commented on the incident on his Facebook page.

“By an official resolution, the Verkhovna Rada did not recognize the results of the elections in Belarus and welcomed the introduction of European sanctions against the state, which in the same resolution was called “brotherly.” Yes, with such brothers there is no need for enemies! The main thing is that the sanctions themselves were not imposed. Apparently, diesel fuel is really needed,” Kornilov wrote.

But Kiev political expert Elena Dyachenko emphasized that the Rada deputies who voted “for” will be to blame for all the consequences of such a decision.

“If, after today’s statement by the Rada on the non-recognition of the elections in Belarus, the TCG negotiation platform falls apart and Minsk recognizes Crimea as Russian, the 228 who just voted for this should be blamed,” she noted on the social network.
