Olga Stefanishina, a deputy from the “Voice” faction, stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Last week, an unacceptable situation occurred at the National Health Committee. This situation concerns not only me personally.
An ex-representative of a pharmaceutical company came to the committee and said, verbatim, that he would “beat the heads off” me and my colleague Alexandra Ustinova for our draft law No. 2089.
Today this draft law has been in parliament for three months! This person came and threatened me personally and my colleague in connection with this bill. It (the law - editor's note) is designed to reduce drug prices and take away excess profits from pharmaceutical companies.
This situation can happen to any of you, and representatives of the agricultural, gaming, or any other business today can calmly come to the people’s committee and threaten people’s deputies for their legislative activities,” she was indignant and demanded that the relevant authorities deal with the incident.
“Today there is simply chaos happening in our parliament and relevant committees!” the parliamentarian was indignant.
