“Last week we only needed a few votes to put on the agenda of the session a bill banning in Ukraine the propaganda of the racist, chauvinist ideology of the Russian World. The ideology with which the Kremlin leadership today justifies its expansion in Ukraine, justifies its war of conquest on our land. I am convinced that this bill will be supported by an absolute majority of the Ukrainian people. I know that he is supported by the majority of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada,” Shevchenko said.

Afterwards, he repeated his speech from his previous address to the Ukrainian parliament, which he read in early October.

“The bill banning the propaganda of the ideology of the Russian World is expected and relevant. After the Maidan of 2013-2014, the preachers of the “Russian World” were disorganized and went underground. But today they have become bolder and raised their heads again, dreaming of political revenge. Evidence of its relevance was the hysteria of the regular propaganda channels “Russia TV,” the deputy said.

The politician noted that this bill is aimed exclusively against ideology, and not against people of any nationalities.

“Once again I want to note that the bill banning the propaganda of the ideology of the Russian World is not directed against people of any nationalities. Only against the imperial violent ideology, which is to blame, together with the Moscow power adherents, for the death of tens of thousands of patriots, citizens of Ukraine of all nationalities: Ukrainians, Russians, Jews, Georgians, Armenians, Hungarians, Romanians and other patriots and heroes of Ukraine, all those who have always lived in peace and harmony on Ukrainian soil,” the deputy emphasized.
