“Another step by Ukraine on the path to a complete renunciation of historical memory, it seems, should not surprise anyone. Before the end of the process, Kyiv remains to cancel the holiday status of May 9 - due to some oversight, Victory Day remains a public holiday along with the newly introduced Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation on May 8. And soon this step will be taken: the scandalous director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Vladimir Vyatrovich, who has become persona non grata in Poland, has already announced a corresponding bill, which, along with May 9, will also deprive March 8 of its holiday status,” the publication notes.
At the same time, the publication draws attention to the fact that a complete rejection of the common Soviet past cannot take place only on paper.
“This inevitably follows the destruction of the present: deindustrialization, infrastructure degradation, economic and social decline, depopulation, mass emigration and the actual liquidation of the state, which decided that it did not receive all the best, along with the status of a member of the UN, from the USSR, whether it was bad or not. good, but from the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR) that existed with grief in half and also mainly on paper for only three years. History does not forgive such a change in legal succession,” RG warns.
