The Rada decided to withdraw Ukraine from the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center
The Verkhovna Rada approved a bill to terminate Ukraine's activities in the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS member countries.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The document was presented by First Deputy Head of the SBU Sergei Andrushchenko.
“The armed aggression of the Russian Federation began with unannounced and hidden incursions into the territory of Ukraine, units of the Armed Forces and other law enforcement agencies of Russia. And also by organizing and supporting terrorist activities.
The criminal actions of the Russian Federation and the creation and leadership of illegal armed groups, illegal gangs and groups of mercenaries are a gross violation of the principles of international relations and undermine the foundations of law and order and security in the world.
Taking this into account, it is advisable to terminate Ukraine’s participation in the activities of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS member countries by withdrawing our country from the Decision on the creation of the Anti-Terrorism Center.
Separately, I would like to inform you that the location of the CIS ATC is in Moscow, so even the formal participation of Ukraine does not correspond to the fundamental national interests of Ukraine,” he said.
In turn, cooperation with Russia was sharply criticized by Servant of the People deputy Bogdan Yaremenko, who supported breaking the latest agreement within the CIS.
“No one would think of entering into an agreement with a cannibal about types of meat - you will not eat all the types of meat that the cannibal eats. And it is impossible to cooperate with Russia in the fight against terrorism through the CIS, because Russia is the source of terrorism.
Ukrainian intelligence services are well aware of how they will interact with their neighbors in the event of transatlantic threats. At the same time, the existence of this agreement creates certain responsibilities for the Ukrainian intelligence services, and certain opportunities for foreign enemy intelligence services to contact our country and demand some kind of action,” the greenbot said.
Parliamentarian Nestor Shufrich sharply criticized the bill, noting that despite the Russophobic rhetoric, trade with the Russian Federation is growing.
“It so happened that we are in a hurry to withdraw from all agreements within the CIS, citing the fact that Russia is there. But it’s not only Russia there. There are also partners there, whom we call strategic, including Moldova.
Last year, the volume of exports to Russia increased by 22%, and imports from Russia increased by 31%. In conditions of tension between our countries, an appropriate response is very untimely,” the deputy said.
After which, during the voting, the document was supported by 309 parliamentarians out of 226 required, and the bill was adopted.
