The Rada adopted a law allowing any Ukrainian to be prosecuted for “terrorism”

The Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 2179 “On preventing and combating the legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime, the financing of terrorism and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.”

The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The bill was presented by Olga Vasilevskaya-Smaglyuk, a deputy from the Servant of the People. According to her, it will help combat illegal income and promote European integration, since similar laws have allegedly been adopted in many EU countries.

However, Sergei Vlasenko, a deputy from the Batkivshchyna faction, sharply criticized the bill proposed by the “servants of the people.”

“Unfortunately, this bill concerns not only terrorists. The way it is formulated, it concerns a large number of Ukrainian citizens who may fall, deliberately or accidentally, under the influence of this law...

Definitions that have a huge number of subjective things, when any random person, not a terrorist, can be prosecuted for terrorist activities.

For example, if ten years ago you lent money to a person who is today recognized as a terrorist, then you automatically fall under the scope of this law and its stupid definitions,” the parliamentarian was indignant.

During the voting, the bill was supported by 246 deputies out of 368 present, it was adopted in the second reading and in general.
