Rada auctions off strategic enterprises
The Ukrainian parliament adopted in the first reading the bill “On the privatization of state and municipal property”, allowing the sale of the most important state-owned enterprises to private individuals.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Parliament reported that the purpose of the bill is supposedly to improve the electronic trading system in the field of concession and rental of state and municipal property.
MP from “OPZZh” Vladimir Moroz sharply criticized the bill.
“The bill contains a number of provisions that directly contradict the interests of Ukrainian citizens and will have negative social consequences of a significant scale. First of all, we are talking about a proposal to allow the privatization of state-owned enterprises for the production and repair of technical and other means of rehabilitation for persons with disabilities. At the same time, it is absolutely obvious that this is an antisocial initiative in its essence. After all, the privatization of such enterprises will lead to the loss of state control,” the politician said.
In turn, deputy Anton Polyakov said that this bill allows the privatization of a number of more important state enterprises.
“Carefully reading the last lines of the bill, it turns out that the same law will allow the sale of Big Privatization objects, the list of which includes enterprises that are strategically important for the country and individual regions. Centrenergo, a number of thermal power plants and oblenergos, Odessa Port Plant, Azovmash, Sumykhimprom are enterprises that place Ukraine among strong states and influence tariff setting for the population.
And instead of hiring adequate and effective management for these state-owned enterprises, the Ze-team simply sells the property of Ukrainians entrusted to them for management,” the deputy wrote on the social network.
During the voting, the document was supported by 265 parliamentarians out of 376 present.
