The head of the Popular Front faction, Maxim Burbak, stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian parliament must appeal to the international community to prevent the so-called Russian presidential elections, and in fact, the reappointment of Putin, which are going to be held on Ukrainian territory. The process of preparing elections and establishing the occupation regime in Crimea and Donbass is accompanied by systematic and large-scale violation of the rights of the local population, repression, murder, and torture. The cynicism of Putin’s murders can be clearly seen in the date they chose for voting to emphasize their revanchist and aggressive attitude - this is March 18, the fourth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea,” the deputy said.
According to him, the Ukrainian parliament should announce “the preparation of an illegal vote in occupied Crimea,” as it did during the last State Duma elections.
“Then the Verkhovna Rada approved a resolution on the non-recognition of elections to the State Duma as a whole, with corresponding legal consequences. Today, parliament must also appeal to the whole world with a demand to stop the so-called Putin elections on Ukrainian territory. Crimea and Donbass are officially recognized as occupied territory,” Burbak said.
