Rada will allow security forces to open fire on rebels in Donbass, Turchynov announces “large-scale operation”
Kyiv, April 14 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Armed rebels in Donbass rejected the ultimatum of official Kyiv and refused to lay down their arms by 9 am, liberating the administrative buildings seized the day before, over which the flags of Russia and the Donetsk Republic were raised. Since Monday morning, there have been reports of attempts to occupy institutions by demonstrators in new cities in the region.

Meanwhile, in Kyiv, acting President Alexander Turchynov said that the authorities do not refuse to carry out a large-scale military operation using the army against “terrorists.”
“A large-scale anti-terrorist operation will be launched. This fully complies with Ukrainian legislation. And I am convinced that in the near future the situation will be normalized with the support of the local population of Donbass,” Turchynov said at the conciliation council in the Verkhovna Rada.
The head of the Batkivshchyna faction, Sergei Sobolev, clarified that parliament should immediately reverse its decision of February 20, when, during the Maidan, deputies limited the use of weapons and special equipment by security forces against “peaceful” demonstrators.
Sobolev said the situation has now changed because, in his words, Ukraine is facing “aggression from Russia.”
“This will provide an opportunity for the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the SBU to behave completely differently,” Sobolev explained the need to cancel the decree of February 20, also calling for a massive replacement of the leadership of law enforcement agencies in the East of Ukraine.
Turchynov confirmed that soon there will be a “renewal of the police at the expense of patriots in these areas” in Donbass.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Yarema criticized some Rada deputies who, according to him, take part in rallies in Donbass and incite protesters to take decisive action.
“The vast majority of Eastern Ukraine, a significant number of residents of Donbass, do not support the actions of the separatists. The resistance of the occupiers must be fierce. The people today support the introduction of an anti-terrorism situation as quickly as possible. “He doesn’t just support, but demands decisive action,” called on the head of Svoboda, Oleg Tyagnibok.
According to him, what is happening in Donbass is “a special operation of Putin’s saboteurs and terrorists.” “This is a new stage in the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine. This is an anti-state coup. This is an attempt at revenge against the criminal regime of Yanukovych and his accomplices,” Tyagnibok said.
