The Rada decided to release punitive militants from prisons
The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading a law on amnesty for criminals and ATO soldiers in honor of the 30th anniversary of the “independence” of Ukraine.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The document was presented by deputy Igor Fris. Thus, the purpose of the bill is the early release and amnesty of some prisoners, primarily nationalists and participants in the war against Donbass.
“The country must be humane. Since 2017, we must vote every year for an amnesty law, but there is no amnesty... The bill expands the amnesty for certain types of crimes not only to ATO participants, but to all people who defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country,” said Fries.
At the same time, the parliamentarian stressed that the amnesty will not apply to those who committed serious crimes.
During the voting, the draft document was adopted as a basis and sent for further refinement.
Let us note that the amnesty occurs against the backdrop of aggravation both in the international arena and in Donbass. Thus, the day before in Kyiv it was reported that the Ukrainian leadership is being prepared to the amphibious landing in the DPR.
