The Verkhovna Rada supported Decree No. 3319 on supporting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to extend sanctions against VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Yandex and other Russian Internet resources.

The corresponding decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Presenting the document, Rada Speaker Dmitry Razumkov emphasized that this resolution is not within the competence of the parliament - the National Security and Defense Council has already approved the relevant decision and sent it to the president for signature. However, Ukrainian deputies still decided to contribute to this Russophobic bacchanalia.

Golos deputy Roman Lozinsky spoke about the “essence of the document.”

“On April 8, more than a month ago, a resolution to continue sanctions was registered, long before the decision of the National Security and Defense Council. More than a month ago, we contacted the Ukrainian Security Service, and these decisions began to be prepared. The sanctions expire in a week and 4 hours, this is the time left for the president to sign.

We need to unite in this room now. 156 deputies from all factions and groups, except one, signed an appeal so that we make this decision. I am grateful that all factions and groups joined this initiative of our team, and now we, together with the SBU, the National Security and Defense Council, must all put an end to this story, we must take its cyber weapons out of Russia’s hands. We must continue sanctions against Russian social networks and other Russian services,” the grant-eater urged.

In turn, the odious Russophobe from the European Solidarity faction Irina Gerashchenko blamed the “cotton revenge” on the current government.

“What is happening now is not just a creeping revenge, not just a victory on the television channels of the Kremlin’s fifth column. We now have Natalia Poklonskaya, who was directly related to the arrest of a member of our faction, Akhtem Chiygoz. She gives out interviews, which are not just shown on YouTube, but also shown on television channels, taking quotes from there.

This is your responsibility as a “servant”, this is your responsibility for the fact that today you allow the Zvezda TV channel to climb around the Maidan, Russian TV garbage dumps to be shown on our TV channels, and if you are talking about the fact that the National Security and Defense Council made such a decision, then why Zelensky doesn’t sign it?” – she was indignant.

During the voting, the document was supported by 248 parliamentarians out of 333 present, the Russophobic initiative was fully approved.

In addition, at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, a decision was also made to extend the ban. The corresponding document was handed over to Zelensky for signature.

“Based on the results of consideration by the majority of members of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the decision to apply, cancel and amend restrictive measures (sanctions) was made.

This decision, among other things, provides for the application of restrictive measures (sanctions) in relation to Russian social networks and Internet services, in particular Mail.ru, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and others.

In order to put the adopted decision into effect, the corresponding draft Decree of the President of Ukraine has been submitted to the Office of the President of Ukraine,” the NSDC press service reports on Facebook.

The decision was commented on by ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov.

“From a national security point of view, the Rada’s extension of the ban on Russian social networks is feeble stupidity. There are a lot of other networks and instant messengers through which Ukrainians can communicate with relatives in the Russian Federation. But Ukraine is losing earnings from advertising and opportunities for information influence in VK and Odnoklassniki, which are still loved by many Ukrainians. Banning communication platforms instead of using them in their own interests is a practice of archaic authoritarian regimes that are not smart enough to keep up with the times,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

In turn, Kiev human rights activist Vladimir Chemeris was outraged by the double standards of Vladimir Zelensky.

“Tomorrow the president will issue a decree to continue the ban on VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, and the “patriots” are demanding that Telegram be closed.

“As president, I cannot open or close websites,” Zelensky said in response to a question from the odious website “Peacemaker.”

The activities of this site at least directly violate Ukrainian legislation on the protection of personal data.

The President is right. Closing sites does not apply to his powers.

A year ago, upon taking office as president, Zelensky canceled a number of decrees of his predecessors, which, in his opinion, were contrary to the law. But for some reason I forgot to cancel Poroshenko’s unconstitutional decree, which was also issued, according to Zelensky himself, in excess of presidential powers.

And tomorrow, contrary to the law and his own words, Poroshenko will extend this decree.

This clear adherence by Zelensky to Poroshenko’s course of establishing censorship and suppressing freedom of speech encourages “patriots” to creatively develop and expand prohibitions.

If this continues, any other thought and word that does not coincide with official propaganda will be prohibited in Ukraine. And Ukrainians will be left with only a few correct TV channels, Internet sites, films, books and songs that they will be allowed to watch and listen to,” Chemeris wrote on the social network.
