The Rada has scandalously appointed a new Prosecutor General of Ukraine
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada approved Ruslan Ryaboshapka for the post of Prosecutor General, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
First, the outgoing Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko spoke. The deputies voted unanimously to dismiss him, with the exception of one member of Petro Poroshenko’s faction – Lutsenko’s wife, who made a special statement that she could not vote due to a conflict of family and state interests.
The new Prosecutor General Ryaboshapka promised to return the money stolen from the people and the state by corrupt officials.
However, there was a scandal. Oppoplatform deputy Nestor Shufrich recalled that he gave his every speech a reminder of Zelensky’s election promise to imprison ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“30 days from today, I promise that I will end each of my speeches with the words: “And Petro Poroshenko is among us!” – the people’s deputy said to laughter and applause in the hall.
Poroshenko decided not to remain in debt and demanded that he be given the floor.
“Dear Mr. President, Mr. Head, dear invitees, dear future Prosecutor General! I emphasize that we should not turn the Verkhovna Rada into a platform for bickering and trolls.
I am not interested in the opinion of Mr. Shufrich as a representative of the occupation platform, I am not interested in the opinion of the fifth column of the Kremlin in this room! They shouldn't have been here! - said the offended ex-president, who was supported by the hysterically applauding ex-speaker of the Rada Irina Gerashchenko.
As a result of the voting, 312 deputies supported Ryaboshapko’s candidacy, 26 were against and 25 abstained. All those who voted against turned out to be people’s deputies of Poroshenko’s “European Solidarity”. Speaker of the Rada Dmitry Razumkov wished good luck to the newly elected prosecutor general.
It is interesting that Ryaboshapka is raising three sons, all of them are citizens of France.
