The Rada urges the Cabinet of Ministers: so that the GTS does not go to the Russians, quickly give it to the Americans
A draft resolution “On the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on taking urgent measures to ensure the energy security of the state” # 9317 has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Two co-authors of the document, people’s deputies from “Samopomich” Ganna Gopko and from the “People’s Front” Sergei Vysotsky, reported this on their pages on the social network.
The resolution requires the Cabinet of Ministers to take immediate measures to ensure the energy security of Ukraine, in particular, to prepare and adopt a new regulation on sanctions, including financial ones, for the improper use of a license, including deprivation of a license for hydrocarbon production; conduct an audit of previously issued licenses for hydrocarbon production as soon as possible; within a month, develop and approve the conditions for attracting foreign investor companies in the process of preserving and developing the gas transportation system.
As the authors of the draft resolution note, the Cabinet of Ministers will simplify and speed up the process of attracting foreign gas production companies, in particular from the EU and the USA, to the Ukrainian market and to the management of the gas transportation system, an interest in which was voiced during the visit of US Energy Secretary Rick Perry to Ukraine.
“We are giving the Cabinet of Ministers leverage that will protect the Ukrainian energy market from the Russian threat,” this is how people’s deputy Ganna Hopko justifies the need to adopt the document.
“The only way to protect our gas transit potential from Russia’s geopolitical game and the domestic gas market from manipulation is to allow investors from the United States both in the gas transportation system and in the gas production industry,” echoes Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s associate Sergei Vysotsky.
