The Rada closed before the elections, not giving Poroshenko a chance to speculate on the language
First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko, closing the plenary meeting of parliament on Friday, recalled that on April 15-19, parliamentarians work in committees, commissions and factions, and the next plenary meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 23, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As you know, the second round of presidential elections will take place in Ukraine on April 21.
Thus, Petro Poroshenko’s hopes that he would be able to pass the discriminatory bill on the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language (No. 5670-d), amendments to which began to be considered on February 28, were not realized before the elections. Considering that Poroshenko’s main slogans in this campaign were “Army! Mova! Vera!”, then the still-incumbent head of state was going to add the adoption of the law on total Ukrainization to his election assets in the “Mova” column.
Thank you!
