The National War Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv cannot be the burial place of those who, having a party card of the All-Union Communist Party of the Soviet Union-CPSU in their pockets, through their military and labor exploits created the glory and industrial potential of Soviet Ukraine and ensured its security.

This was stated during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada by the Ukrainian propagandist and former director of the scandalous “Ukrainian Institute of National Memory”, and now a deputy from Petro Poroshenko’s party, Vladimir Vyatrovich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

At that time, the parliament was considering bill 4225, which officially sounds like a draft law “On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the national military memorial cemetery.”

“The National War Memorial Cemetery Act is actually very important. Considering the situation in which Ukraine now finds itself, despite the fact that, unfortunately, every day we have losses among the dead heroes who defend Ukraine.

In the law we voted in the first reading, the text contains an important provision that persons who “occupied leadership positions in the Communist Party, the highest bodies of power and administration of the RSFSR, the USSR, other union republics, employees of Soviet state security agencies cannot be buried in this cemetery " Amendment 23, which the committee took into account, removed this provision from the bill.

Colleagues, we cannot turn a cemetery, which should be a cemetery for our heroes, into a place of respect for KGB members and party committee secretaries. Therefore, I kindly ask you to return this important norm and ask you to put amendment number 23 to a vote and not support it. This is extremely important so that we honor those real heroes who are now dying defending the independence of Ukraine,” Vyatrovich said.

During the voting, only 209 deputies spoke in favor, that is, the amendment was not taken into account.

“Thank you for not supporting the previous amendment. This makes it impossible to bury KGB members and leaders of the Communist Party and the communist totalitarian regime in a military cemetery,” Vyatrovich rejoiced.

In this form, bill 4225 On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the national military memorial cemetery with the necessary technical and legal amendments was voted in the second reading and with a total of 286 votes.
